Local walks

These walks are free of charge but where the Community Bus is used a small fare is charged. For more information about the walks please contact Gary Cox at the Information Centre. Walks are listed with full details in the Centre and on the notice board in Moretonhampstead Square. Please check weekly for changes.

| Sat 12th July | South West Coast Path - our annual favourite 5 mile costal path walk. This trip must be booked in advance. The bus will leave late morning and return during the evening following a fish & chip supper on the Coast. |
| Sat 19th July | Dartmeet - Brimpts - Yar Tor - A 5 mile route starting at Dartmeet and passing Brimpts, Dolly's Cot and rogues Roost before ascending Yar Tor. Beautiful Moorland scenery. Bus departs Court St car park at 5.30pm. |
| Friday 1st Aug | The bronze age village at Grimspound is a feature of this walk which also includes the RAF memorial stone on the lower slopes of Hamel Down. 5 mile route has a long climb out of Heathercombe. Meet Court St car park 6pm. |
| Sat 9th Aug | East Dart Waterfall and Postbridge - A wonderful Dartmoor walk starting at Postbridge, one of the most famous landmarks on the Moor. 5 mile circuit heads up the dart valley into wild moorland and crosses river at a picturesque waterfall. Meet Court St car park 5.30pm. |
| Mon 11th Aug | Learn a little about Moreton with Gary's Town Tour - an evening stroll around the streets lasting about 90 mins and 2 hours. Topics covered include shops, inns, fires, railway, Napoleon's Officers, the Bowring family, WH Smith, churches and chapels, Civil War and the rivalry with Chagford! Meet Court St car park 6.50pm.(Start 7pm) |
| Sunday 24th Aug | Muddilake - Princetown via Crock of Gold - A linear walk using no 82 public bus to Muddilake Farm where 5 mile walk starts to Princetown. Lovely moor land route passing Prince Hall and along Conchie rd to the Crock of Gold. Return on 12.19pm or 2.19pm from Princetown. Depart Court St car park 09.45am. |
