Questions to assess your level of PC knowledge for the level of Course you need.

If you are comfortably able to do 6 or more of the tasks below you can move on to Improvers Level

otherwise you are best attending a complete Beginners course.

 

1.      Can you turn your computer on and off safely?                                                               Yes*  No*

2.      Are you aware of the different functions of the keyboard and the computer?                  Yes*  No*

3.      Are you comfortable with opening, copying and saving files?                                          Yes*  No*

4.      Are you comfortable with manipulating Windows i.e. changing size, minimising etc?    Yes*  No*

5.      Do you know and can you use all the functions of the mouse i.e. right click etc?           Yes*  No*

6.      Can you enter basic text and print with a word processor?                                             Yes*  No*

7.      Can you surf the web and do you know what a hyperlink is?                                           Yes*  No*

8.      Can you write and send an email?                                                                                   Yes*  No*

 

 

To be able to move on to the Intermediate Level can you answer Yes to 5 of the following:

 

1.                  Are you comfortable with basic aspects of word processing, i.e. cut, copy, paste? Yes*  No*

2.                  Can you use basic file management on your PC?                                                     Yes*  No*               

3.                  Can you use the basic functions of a spreadsheet?                                                  Yes*  No*

4.                  Are you able to download and save images on to your PC?                                      Yes*  No*

5.            Do you know how to access the computer control panel?                                        Yes*  No*

6.            Can you download programs from the internet?                                                        Yes*  No*

7.                 Are you interested in learning about virus protection and firewalls?                       Yes*  No*
