A FREE ONE DAY COURSE of interest to anyone wishing to reduce their ENERGY BILLS and CARBON FOOTPRINT in HOMES and BUSINESSES!
MAGS (Moreton Action Group for Sustainability), employing specialist speakers, are running a free Training Day on Thursday 10th September on various aspects of how we can measure and reduce use of electricity, gas and oil in our homes and businesses. The day starts early, 9 am, as there is a lot to cover! The morning session will be led by West Country Energy Action (WCEA) and will cover why it is important to reduce energy in UK homes, outlining national energy use, government policy and legislation to ultimately reduce carbon emissions. Then how we can reduce gas, electricity and oil usage (and bills) in our homes and businesses - practical measures such as energy audits, meters, insulation, efficiency of different heating systems boilers, glazing etc. And who can help us achieve this - local councils, specialist firms, and what grants, technical help is available. In the afternoon a speaker from Devon Association of Renewable Energy (DARE) will cover types of renewable energy - particularly Solar Thermal Panels - how they work, types and makes, which is suitable for different plumbing systems, costs, and CO2 savings. All extremely helpful if you are thinking of installing a panel on your south facing roof! This course is open to anyone who has an interest in reducing their energy bills and overall carbon footprint. Cost is £15 - free to Moreton people and businesses. Tea and coffee will be provided through the day by MAGS. Bookings will be on a first come first served basis.
