Christmas Lights 2009 - The big switch on

Once again this year the Parish Council and Business Association are working together to decorate the centre of Moreton with traditional trees and lights. This year we are joined by Friends Of Moretonhampstead School (FOMS) who will be running a Christmas Market in The Parish Hall providing a perfect complement to the big switch on. The School children will be processing and ‘lightin up’ the various locations around the town prior to the main event.

There will also be a FOMS/MBA raffle with some fantastic prizes.

The big switch on will be on Saturday 5th December at 6.00 pm.

This year we have some added attractions

* A Christmas Market, running from 4:30 – 7:30 with stalls selling Gifts and Christmas Goodies (please contact us if you would like details of how to apply for a stall)
* Shops around the town will also stay open late
* Mince Pies and Mulled wine will be available
* Barry Moore will be running a Hog Roast in The Square
* Santa Claus will be paying us a visit around 5:30pm

Following the switch on a selection of Christmas carols will be performed by the Moortones and Moorhens. Some selected for you to sing along.

Tickets for the raffle will be on sale during the lead up to the day. There will be some great prizes so don’t miss out on purchasing your tickets from FOMS/MBA volunteers.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the school PA/Lights fund and the Christmas Lights around the town. We look forward to your support and to a real community event. More details in next months NIM.
