This year the play is based on the life of Sir Thomas Tyrwhitt. At the end of the 18th century, Tyrwhitt had grand designs to convert large areas of open moor into arable farmland and, although unsuccessful in this venture, he founded the community now called Princetown and its iconic prison.
The play is set in the local area and reveals an intertwining of royalty and peasantry as the story of Tyrwhitts schemes unfolds and impacts on everyones lives.
