Archiving Training

Archiving Training

Date & Time: 10 September 2011
Location Moretonhampstead

Moretonhampstead History Society has built up a collection of documents, photos and a few artefacts which are currently stored in about 12 cardboard boxes. The contents of the boxes have been listed – see: http://www.moretonhampstead.org.uk/pages/archives.ghtml.

From late October 2011, as part of an HLF-funded project, we will be looking to relocate, catalogue, store and digitise these in a room in the Greenhill Centre. They will form an archive that will grow, be linked to the Society’s website and available to the public for research and the purchase of copies of documents and photos.

We will be training a small team of  6 volunteers who will carry out the setting up of the archive. This would preferably take place in Moretonhampstead where we can provide a suitable room with IT projection facilities available if required at no cost. We will be offering free training for these volunteers on 10th and 17th September.

If you are interesting in taking part please contact Bill Hardiman, Chair of the History Society, on 01647 441083.
