Computer Courses in the Library

We offer a variety of computing courses each term from the Bowring library in Moretonhampstead.
The courses range from complete beginners to more advanced in small groups with plenty of one-to-one help to get you feeling confident with your PC.

Free IT Training
myguide is a website designed course to help people take their first steps with computers and the internet.
Registered users get access to an easy-to-use email system and a wide range of online courses for free. Moreton Learning Centre is offering these courses from the library with tutored help on a Tuesday evening. To register please contact Katheryn on 01647 440855 or pop along to the library on a Tuesday between 7-9pm.
Free Hub Website Training
The Moretonhampstead Development Trust is offering free training sessions in the library for individuals, small businesses or charitable organisations who would like to get involved with our new Moretonhampstead Hub website.This site offers you the chance to add your own blog and is a space for Moretonians to express themselves and for ideas and knowledge to be shared. Organisations can add their own page. It is a fun and informal site and we hope you will make use of it. It is free to use and you can access it at home and add photos and videos too.

Community Websites
We also offer periodic training in order for you to have your own mini website on this site.
Please see examples. The training takes you through the steps to creating your own mini website together with several pages and a contact form. You will be shown how to add text and images and your site will have some content by the end of the session. There is a small annual fee for administration and service of your website detailed in the Ads section. if you are interested and would like to learn how to make a professional looking site in easy steps that can be up and running straight away please email us and give us your details and the type of website you wish to have.

New Beginners Computing 
A course for complete beginners to learn how to familiarise yourself with your computer starting with the keyboard and moving on to use email, the internet and simple word processing techniques. No experience required
Mons 9.30-11.30am, 8 wks starts September in the library.
Fee: £48.00 (conc £38.40/£24.00)
Please note *Please complete a booking form to enrol on all courses. Places are limited and the full course fee will be charged if you enrol and do not then turn up for the course.
Free Beginners Computer training with UK-Online is available on a Tuesday evening at IT Surgery.

Improvers Computing with Merlin Howse
A course for those with basic knowledge or as a follow on from our Beginners Computing course. Learn more about processes you can use on your PC including creating Word documents, spreadsheets and more.
Mons 7-9pm, 6 wks next starts 27th September '10 in the library. Fee: £36.00p (conc £32.40/£18.00)
Presentations on your PC with Bill Fothergill

Learn how to create a professional PowerPoint presentation using MS PowerPoint from scratch. Learn the steps to creating your own presentation for giving a talk, work demo or hobby. Produce professional slides with pictures and text to show later. Please bring photographs on a CD. Go home with a professional looking basic PowerPoint presentation.
Sun 5th December 10am-4.30pm, 1 day in the library.

Introduction to Spread Sheets with Bill Fothergill
An overview of the concepts of using spreadsheets on your P.C. Useful for accounting, creating tables or graphs and financial models at home or work. A basic computer knowledge is required. We will use Microsoft Excel.
Sat 13th November 1.30-5pm, half day in the library.
Fee: £10.50 (conc £9.45/£5.25)
