Our tutors come from a varied background but all of them have extensive knowledge within their field.
Wendy Head
Wendy started in banking, training staff in Financial Services and has since been teaching adults computing, previously with South Devon College. Most of her classes are for complete beginners, and those who wish to progress from this to other subjects, such as Word-Processing, Internet, Spreadsheets and File Management. Wendy has a great deal of patience and likes her courses to be fun and relaxed, as this is how she believes learning is best carried out.
Katheryn Hope
Katheryn started her career in nursing and went on to train in various therapies including a Counselling Cert with Relate. She has a degree in Media and Communication Studies and has a practitioner diploma in Feng Shui and is a qualified therapist. She began teaching adult education in 1990 in Bristol where she taught Aromatherapy for many years. She has since taught with Okehampton and South Dartmoor colleges and facilitated meditation groups. Her courses are positive and proactive.
Merlin Howse
Merlin has always had an interest in computers and offered P.C. admin and website development from his home, Steward Community Woodland, for 8 years. He ran the Computer Club in Moretonhampstead and started teaching with South Dartmoor College in 2001. He has an in-depth knowledge of many systems and teaches the Website and Digital Imaging courses and facilitates the I.T. Surgery.
Bill Fothergill 
Bill worked as a telecommunications engineering manager in London with BT for over 25 years. He later moved into telecommunications management consultancy and from there into general management. Bill has had a long-term interest in training and is initially developing spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) courses to supplement our other PC courses.
David Lockwood
David is a member of The British Society of Dowsers and is a registered tutor with the society and teaches all over the South West. He is passionate about dowsing and uses it for many different purposes. David is a fully trained teacher and chair of : -

Gabrielle Jackson
Gabrielle worked for many years for BBC TELEVISION and produced three series of “Rhodes Around Britain”, a programme presented by chef Gary Rhodes which championed British food. During the making of those series Gabrielle travelled extensively throughout the British Isles and Ireland meeting artisan food producers, talking to farmers and discovering old recipes some of which were adapted for the programme.
Since then Gabrielle has worked as producer/director on “Kitchen Chemistry” with chef Heston Blumenthal and as Food Stylist on “Tamasin’s Great British Classics” with food journalist and cook Tamasin Day-Lewis. She also worked with chef Michael Caines on BBC’s “Countryfile” on the Dartmoor series.
Gabrielle has hands on experience running a food business and won “Best Chocolate Cake in Britain” Award. She is the official chef for Sunseeker International Boats, Poole, and has travelled extensively cooking round the world. Practiced at talking on television and radio, she now demonstrates cooking especially with chocolate and works as a food stylist for television and photographic shoots.
Nicky Scott
Nicky brings a great deal of experience to his courses. He started working for a composter (Dick Kitto) in Ipplepen when he was 16, studied Organic Gardening at HDRA in 1981 and later set up a market garden on Dartmoor in 1982. He has had an allotment for 18 years and has also been a compost co-ordinator since 1992. Amongst other subjects he has taught cooking and gardening at Sands School for 7 years and was the Co-founder of Chagford Community Composting Project (now Proper Job Ltd) in 1992 and the Co-ordinator of the Devon Community Composting network since 1995. He is also the Ex-Chair of the Community Composting Network UK and has written three books on composting and made a film and an animation as well as addressing numerous conferences and lecturing at Plymouth and Southampton Universities.
Olivia Young
Olivia is a commercial portrait Painter and landscape artist using many mediums and exhibits her work widely. She is passionate about all aspects of Art and enjoys encouraging the innate creative skills we all have inside us. She loves teaching art to others.
