Solstice Vigil in Moretonhampstead
Solstice Vigil
Members of Moreton Action Group for Sustainability led a solstice vigil on the weekend of 19-20 December in St Andrew's Church and churchyard. There was storytelling and meditations in a tepee; live music; lantern-making workshops to light up a way through the churchyard at night; and the creation of a community Mandala out of natural materials, which went on from 8 pm on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. Dawn was greeted by circle dancing near the tepee, with a beautiful sunrise, followed by breakfast and a service in church. It was a delightful and moving 24 hours for all who were there, even if only for a short time. Thanks in print to the people who helped make it work would be inappropriate, as there were so many of them!
