The town boasts several ancient and interesting buildings, such as the Alms Houses and the Parish Church of St Andrew, which dates from around 1450 and stands on high ground adjoining the Sentry, the town’s recreation area. The town is also home to several artists and potters. There are several workshops throughout the town and some wonderful sculptures of local wildlife dotted around the centre including Dartmoor ponies 'grazing' at the top of Pound Street, mice and owls decorating the town's railings and a dramatically swooping sparrow hawk on a wall in the town square.

Moretonhampstead has no less than three pubs and three cafés and there's a wide selection of hotels, bed and breakfast, self-catering and camping accommodation and a good Information Centre. And if that wasn't enough to keep visitors happy, the town has some great shops that specialise in local produce and services. There is something to meet every taste so visit Moretonhampstead!
